Health Care Reform

I've been asked to write about the Health Care crisis in our Country. I've decided to write about how the recession has affected many people. Since last August, many clients, family and friends have had a very hard time either paying their mortgages or deciding whether to buy food or health care. Many decided to buy food. According to Statistics there are 7 million Americans ages 50 to 64 who do not have health care. As a result of the recession many of these same people remain unemployed. The older workers ability to find a job takes at least 20 times longer than younger workers. Presently, every person I know who was laid off in the latter part of 2008, are still unemployed. Even if they eventually find jobs, but have a pre-existing condition the private market could deny them coverage. If we do not provide affordable health care through our medicare system for these adults, by the time they are eligible for medicare the cost of care will be much higher. We should be concentrating on prevention not crisis medical care, which in the long run will cost the taxpayer more money!
Affordable health care should be offered to those who have no coverage and need medical coverage as a result of a job loss, financial hardship,or if their company does not offer benefits. REFORM IS NEEDED NOW!
